A curved bronze tower, flower-lined corridors and a golf course behind the casino. Wynn is the Strip for guests who prefer the volume low.

Inside the house

Wynn Las Vegas opened in 2005 where the Desert Inn once stood, and its curved bronze tower is still a landmark at the north end of the Strip. Encore, its sister hotel, stands right beside it with the same level of finish.

The interiors are soft and botanical: daylight, mosaic floors and large floral displays that change through the year. Rooms are generous, and floor-to-ceiling windows look out over either the Strip or the golf course.

The gaming floor is graceful and uncrowded, with a well-regarded poker room and private salons for higher stakes. Service is what regulars talk about most, from the front desk to the dealers.

Set aside time for the spa, book at least one meal in the resort's restaurants, and stop by the Lake of Dreams after dark, when light and music shows play across the water.
